This beautiful wedding took place along the river in the Edmonton River Valley this fall; what a gorgeous location for an intimate wedding! Just before sunset, they did a first look which was pretty lovely to be able to watch from afar. He anxiously waited to see his bride for the first time while both his best man and officiant struggled with pinning on the boutonniere ;)… the suspense was building. Finally, everything was ready to go, and she was approaching him as his back was to her. She was so darn excited! The moment he turned around and saw her, I melted. What a special moment to be apart of as they buzzed with anticipation of their ceremony just about to start. I LOVE first looks for so many reasons… might have to do a blog post all about why one day! They are the best!
A small group of their closest family and friends gathered down by the river as the sun was going down. There was lots of gorgeous golden light and McDonald’s coffee… nothing better! They came down the aisle together, following her best friend and Matron of Honour, and his best friend, and Best Man. What a perfect ceremony it was!
Because they had a relatively small invite list, we were able to do portraits with everyone in attendance which was pretty special!
As the sun set, all their guests headed to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse to get the party started before supper and we stayed back to do some portraits of the brand new Mr. and Mrs! Guess what? The bride had her late Mother’s wedding dress creatively altered to use as her own. She showed me a photo of the dress before and after and the transition was incredible. They preserved all the gorgeous features of the original dress, but made enough changes to also make it unique for her. What a beautiful tribute and such a wonderful way to include her Mom on this special day. She, was absolutely stunning! I really enjoyed hanging out with the two of you on your big day. Thank you for trusting me with such a special milestone in your lives. Don’t these two look dang good together?!
