Happy 9th birthday Savannah!
This is the 5th year in a row we’ve done photos together for Savannah’s birthday and it’s one of my favourite sessions every year. The location is always different, the colours are always different, and her birthday sign is creatively updated by her Mom, Kellie, each and every year. Heck, even the seasons can be different; sometimes our session happens as the leaves are falling and sometimes there is already a ton of snow on the ground!
I love that Savannah’s parents, Kellie and Brad, make it a priority to do this session together for Savannah, along with their other halves, Brayden & Emily. Having everyone together in one place to celebrate this sweet young lady is so special and I can tell it means a lot to her. This year, each family added a new dog to the mix and so we got to have them in the photos for the first time too!
This year, the weather forecast showed that our session date would be quite a bit chillier than our session last year, and the snow was going to fall all day long… and that it did! We met up at the ice cream shop in Sylvan Lake (a no brainer for everyone familiar with the town) and thankfully they served hot drinks too 🙂 After hanging out for a bit there, we made our way over to the lighthouse on the lake. Such a gorgeous backdrop! The wind was a tad crazy here but the views were worth it. Finally, we found a little spot in the trees to shield us from the wind and to give us a chance to slow down and play with the dogs, and to take some pretty portraits!
I hope you enjoy looking through a few of my favourite photos from this fun annual session below!
